Info on Roper Research Room
The Roper Research Room at the Anderson County Museum (ACM) is named after the Museum’s first Curator Donna Roper. Donna has been a long time supporter of the ACM for more than 30 years. The Research Room is her pride and joy and she has worked tirelessly volunteering, cataloging artifacts and serves on our Advisory Committee. We thank Donna for her dedication to the Roper Research Room and the ACM mission of preserving the history and heritage of Anderson County.
The Anderson County Museum (ACM) Roper Research Room has in its holdings books, manuscripts, and photographs directly relating to the history of Anderson County dating from early settlement to the present. While the majority of the collection directly relates to the history of the County, there are some genealogical resources available. Some resources which are currently on exhibit or being cataloged may not be available for closer examination.
The ACM and Roper Research Room include items with permanent value; therefore, certain precautions are in place so you may help us protect the holdings. Cameras, cell phones, hand held scanners, food or beverages are not permitted. Please leave all bags, briefcases, and purses, etc. in a visible location.
The ACM does not have the staff to conduct research for our many users. Volunteers are available during Research Room hours to assist researchers in locating the resources they need. Non-local patrons need to hire a researcher who is able to visit the Roper Research Room in person.
The photographic holdings of the Research Room are available for reproduction for a fee. Only the images from PastPerfect are available. We do not alter or improve the images. Reproduction may take up to two weeks.
