The Anderson County Museum has one of the largest galleries in the state! There are exhibit games and scavenger hunts for all ages. You can book a tour with one of our docent volunteers or explore on your own and get lost in history. We also have event space for rent if you would like to host your next event here!

Artifacts Photographed & Cataloged

Anderson County Museum takes great care to cataloged our artifacts. In fact, our artifact database is one of the most comprehensive in South Carolina. Check out our virtual exhibits or our past perfect collection to see some of our artifacts, and visit the Anderson County Museum to see them on display! We also have a research room open to the public on Tuesdays from 1 PM – 7 PM or by appointment with the curator.

Monthly Programs

We currently have 6 programs at the museum with different activities for various age groups, 3 for adults and 3 for children. Our children’s programs are activity-based programs where children can earn badges for the sessions they attend. Our adult programs are designed for different interests and rotate subject matter. All of Anderson County Museum’s programs are free and open to the public.

2nd & 4th Thursday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM

This program is devoted to ages 2-4 with a caregiver. The children will get to learn about a piece of history in Anderson County or about a special event coming up. There is always something new to explore at the Anderson County Museum!

1st Saturday from 11 AM – 12 PM

Our newest program! The program is recommended for children ages 6 years and older and focuses on a new dinosaur each month. Children are welcome to bring their favorite dinosaur to the club meeting.

3rd Saturday from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

American Girl Club is designed for children 8 and older. Each meeting features specific dolls and time periods, and even lets you meet some of the American Girls in person! Activities for this program include crafts, scavenger hunts, story time, movies, games and more!

2nd Tuesday from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM

At Heritage & History, Curator Dustin Norris explores a special topics about South Carolina and Anderson history, museum artifacts, or one of our exhibits.This program is open for all ages.

4th Thursday from 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM

Our newest adult program! This is a kid-free zone where visitors can do a one-of-a-kind coloring sheet focusing on an Anderson County Museum Exhibit. 

Quarterly Program at 10 AM

Director’s Tea & Coffee with Director Beverly Childs is a quarterly program with a local historian or author. This program is open to all ages.

New 2018: Hall of Fame Kiosk

In honor of our 15th Hall of Fame anniversary, we have installed a new interactive kiosk will all of our Anderson County hall of fame inductees! The Kiosk is located in the 3rd gallery with the 2017 inductee display.
