McGee Harness Shop

The outdoor exhibit is located in the museum’s back parking area, up the sidewalk beside the fountain and to the left.  The exhibit features the harness maker’s shop that includes tools and machines for harness making and leather repair. The blacksmith’s forge includes a hand-blower, anvil, drill, seeder, press for bending metal, and plowshares.  The business was originally located in Anderson, later moved to the McGee farm in Starr, and finally moved to the Anderson County Museum in 2004, a gift from the McGee family.
