Williamston
Williamston's interesting history can be traced to its natural spring water and the folklore that surrounds it. According to various stories, the mineral spring is responsible for the town's creation and growth.
West Allen Williams, for whom the town is named after, is credited with stumbling across the mineral spring after dreaming of a mystical water that possessed amazing healing abilities. Although other legends exist, this is the most common story shared among Williamston's residents. Williamston experienced massive growth soon after, largely in part to the implementation of railroads, schools, trade posts and a very welcoming hotel. Today, Williamston remains a thriving town with lively personality. The treasured mineral spring is celebrated annually during Williamston's Spring Water Festival.
